Transporter-1 Mission
SpaceX is targeting Sunday, January 24 for launch of Transporter-1, SpaceX’s first dedicated SmallSat Rideshare Program mission, from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The 22-minute launch window opens at 10:00 a.m. EST, or 15:00 UTC.

Falcon 9’s first stage booster previously supported launch of Crew Dragon’s second demonstration mission, the ANASIS-II mission, a Starlink mission, and launch of Dragon’s 21st cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
On board this launch are 133 commercial and government spacecraft (including CubeSats, microsats, and orbital transfer vehicles) and 10 Starlink satellites - the most spacecraft ever deployed on a single mission. The Starlink satellites aboard this mission will be the first in the constellation to deploy to a polar orbit.

There are no people aboard this rocket. However, the speed is correct. To go into orbit requires this velocity. The Crew Dragon that delivered NASA astronauts to the ISS last December had to get to this velocity as well.

Piss poor content space x, I’m sorry to say, but I can’t wrap my head around why this account is so inactive in comparison with anyone who isn’t anything to do with space x? This has all come about because I want to watch the space x stream of space x activity regarding sn9, but there isn’t any!!! Wtf

    • Chatty Walrus
      Chatty Walrus

Anyway, I think SpaceX is doing an awesome job, benefitting from NASA's experience and taking it further. Before its first successful launch, NASA blew up around 140 rockets; and yes, that was launch, not rocket landing.

    • Chatty Walrus
      Chatty Walrus

In other words radiative cooling is no aided cooling at all. What happens if that second stage engine is fired on the Sun side of the Earth? Sorry, it's just that it looks pretty darn scary. And the SN9 rocket seemed to have its cooling systems gone haywire. Elon Musk was right to ask for more launches a month. The world today seems to be suffocating if we don't reach for space. I hope by the SN10 launch the problems SN9 had get solved.

    • Steve Adams
      Steve Adams

@Chatty Walrus - Radiative cooling is simply losing heat via thermal radiation. Any object emits thermal radiation in proportion to its temperature. Regenerative cooling uses a cooling fluid that is circulated around the object that is to be cooled. For the Merlin engine, the combustion chamber and nozzle have channels built into them that run between the inner and outer walls. Some of the RP-1 fuel is circulated through these channels to carry away heat.

    • Chatty Walrus
      Chatty Walrus

How do those two types of cooling work?

    • Steve Adams
      Steve Adams

Yes, that is normal. The expansion nozzle on the Merlin vacuum engine is radiatively cooled, so it gets hot enough to glow. This is unlike the combustion chamber and nozzle which are regeneratively cooled.

I hope you at SpaceX would sync your youtube to Odysee (/LBRY), as Elon seems to love blockchain and freedom to invent. On Odysee all videos would also have a backup, and a large portion of the Odysee audience is very sciency. The sync is incredibly simple and it then automatically copies the content to Odysee.

great idea to catch a rocket. Maybe some sort of electronic brake in the tower like in roller coasters would help.. or like maglev trains systems..using the energy from the landing speed.... maybe this system could also be used for extra takeoff power... For future landings on sea "oil rig" , they maybe could use a sort of floating landing circular platform that sinks down into the sea to take the speed and soften the landing.. using the water as an spring. Precision landings are the key........
